THROUGH EVERY PHASE OF WHAT HAS BECOME A LONG HISTORY
OUR LONG STANDING MUSIC SCHOOL HAS PROUDLY BROUGHT HARMONY TO THE HOMES OF THOUSANDS
OF FAMILIES OVER THE YEARS WITH AN UNWAVERING COMMITMENT TO THE MISSION
OF SPREADING THE JOY OF MUSIC TO OTHERS...
Kathy has a very strong work ethic and has always been a team player and a real "people person."
Many people in the Reisterstown area recognize her from the many (28 years) that she was employed by the local Mars grocery store.
Now with Scott working with just shy of 60 (mostly remote) private piano students as well as a team of what is currently 8 and what together Scott and Kathy may build a team of up to a dozen long-term, dedicated and qualified, personable, reliable and kid friendly piano instructors to their now jointly owned / managed 30 plus year old music school.
Since this scale of valued customers have left Scott short of the time and energy to perform all aspects of operations without the synergy that naturally flows from properly partnered individuals who play to each other's strengths with a shared vision, it was in early February of 2024 that Kathy gladly accepted Scott's second (business proposal) when he strongly suggested they join forces to ensure that piano students and their families can continue to experience the high level of customer service and attention to detail that has given their now shared music school its well earned 5 Star Google Rating.
Kathy has spent a great number of her years in the corporate grocery industry dealing with the business management / administrative end of things.
She has natural leadership skills and successfully builds on customer and employee relationships which will now easily transfer to Scott's Remote & In-Home Piano & Keyboard Lessons, not only in light of her skill set, but in her shared passion for music as well as Scott's now 30 plus year vision of music education and the inherent value of spreading the joy of music and fostering musicianship in others itself.
Kathy is also a lifelong pianist who also plays clarinet in an orchestral band that performs voluntary concerts for nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
She has been a regular karaoke singer for decades and enjoys singing along with Scott when they are not busy attending to their now jointly owned music school while Scott plays the piano.
Besides going to see live music with friends or going dancing with Scott at clubs on the weekend that have live rock and pop performances, the two of them are known at many karaoke venues for their karaoke duets.
Kathy is also an artist who provided the beautiful illustrations to one of Scott's 9 self-published books The Adventures of Brody the Boxer at the Rainbow Bridge (available on Amazon).
Kathy, apart from administrative support also has proven top-notch customer service skills which she now is transferring, with great success to the music school she now shares with her husband Scott.
This is invaluable as Scott's busy schedule, both remote and in person leaves little time for Scott to communicate with families personally as his services are in demand and he is nearly fully booked in the after school hours every weekday as well as some limited time on the weekends.
By keeping the lines of communication more open in her new vital role in operations, clients as well as perspective clients are more able to have the questions or concerns thoroughly addressed and any potential issues addressed as quickly and as proactively addressed.
This vital role helps to create a sense of ease, comfort and confidence from the standpoint of both clients as well as staff members alike, not to mention those who are inquiring about services or positions as well...
Kathy is available for a limited number of piano / keyboard students.
She specializes in offering beginner lessons to students of all ages on an in-person only basis.
While she is already scheduled to begin with her first few students on the week of 3/4/24,
Kathy can still temporarily add a few more students to her schedule.
Her overall availability, however, is limited in light of her husband / original founder, Scott's very full schedule and the team that she and Scott head up...not to mention her administrative and customer service roles.
With many year being involved in exactly that with her corporate job experience, Kathy now brings those same easily transferrable skills to her and Scott's jointly owned / operated music school.
As such, she will be involved in screening, interviewing, reference checking and team building as she and Scott set forth to round out their team of staff members with just a few more dedicated instructors.
Under her guidance, those whom she leads consistently feel heard, valued and understood which helps motivate them to deliver an optimal customer service experience for clients.
Such skills will undoubtedly continue to keep us, in our joint efforts amongst some of the most publicly endorsed and frequently referred music schools in the Baltimore Metro area, which, with the advent of remote instruction, now has an even further reach...
Kathy communicates very effectively and is always open to feedback from others and is an excellent and well attuned listener.
As a mother who, just like Scott, also has a grown young adult son - she understands the joys as well as concerns of our students' parents and can therefore truly relate and empathize with the parents whose children are enrolled in lessons not only in the context of the music education that our school provides, but also within the larger context of what specific families may be experience or undergoing in their larger lives in general...
